HBO Mockumentary Looks Absolutely Hilarious In New Teaser

The mockumentary genre is not something you come across very often in Hollywood. Even though comedic writer/director Christopher Guest has perfected the art of making fake, non-fiction movies with laugh riots like This Is Spinal Tap, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind, not a lot of filmmakers seem apt to make a foray into the subgenre. It takes a special touch and a very particular kind of humor and comedic timing to make such a movie work, but when it’s done right, it hits all the perfect tones of wit, charisma, sarcasm, and shameless jeering at whatever part of human life.

In HBO’s new TV movie 7 Days in Hell, that point of ridicule just so happens to be the world of professional tennis. Starring former SNL cast member Andy Samberg and Game of Thrones star Kit Harington as fake pros Aaron Williams and Charles Poole, the film is about a tennis match that lasts seven whole days. Shot in only three days, the short movie also stars Lena Dunham, Karen Gillan, Michael Sheen, and Mary Steenburgen. It arrives on HBO on July 11th.
