One of the most talked-about films at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival is the Amy Winehouse documentary, simply titled Amy, and examines the life of the young singer, who passed away at the age of 27, reports People magazine. In the film, more 80 people have been interviewed, combined with never-before-seen footage and Amy’s own journals. The director, Asif Kapadia, created an interesting examination of the life of the star, revealing previously unknown information.

In the trailer, Amy’s unmistakable voice can still be clearly recognized, even four years after her death. The late singer’s smoky jazz vocals interwoven with home movies and red carpet appearances. Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning on July 23rd, 2011, at the young age of 27. The star’s biggest album, Back to Black, earned her five Grammys.
