Elderly Couple Turns Their Old House Into A School For Bullied Children

A retired couple heard the tragic story of Simone Grice, a girl that committed suicide after being bullied in school, and decided to turn their ten bedroom home into a school for bullied kids.

The school is owned by Fred Morgan, 94, and his wife Vivian, 72, in Hatton, Warwickshire, England, and currently has around 20 students. Of those 20 students, about half of them were bullied so badly that they attempted to take their own lives.

Vivian said: “One day we read a horrifying story in the paper about a girl who had killed herself because she was being bullied at school. It was absolutely dreadful and really upset us. We thought even if we could help make a difference for just one child then it would be worth it.”

The home used to be run as a hotel, but they have transformed some of the rooms into classrooms for the students, which range in age from 11 to 17 years old. The school is run by headteacher Jill Cornfield and they have 22 other staff who are mainly part time. The student take a lot of practical classes alongside the regular classes, such as math, English and science.

The school has become very popular and the requests for enrolment have gone up, so the staff and size of the school could be expanding soon!
