Canada Is Renaming Eleven Places That Use The N-Word

The world has come a long way from its bigoted days, and political correctness is now the name of the game. Keeping with the new values sweeping across the planet, Canada has decided to rename 11 locations near Quebec that included the ‘N-word’ in their names or the equivalent of the word in French – “Negre”.

This decision was taken this past week by Canadian officials, who deemed it the right time to make the necessary changes. Quebec’s Toponymy Commission had this to say: “Even if the words ‘nigger’ or nègre are of ancient usage, they can undermine the dignity of the black community. Indeed, the former has a strongly offensive connotation, while the latter has acquired a pejorative meaning over time.”

Some of the places who are ready to shed their names include “Rocher Nigger” and “Nigger Rapids”. The commission hopes that the new names would not only convey the historic legacy of the places but also “recall the presence of the black community, which has enriched Quebec.”
