Bus Driver Saves 60 Children From Being Hit By Train

Sometimes quick thinking and acting on your instincts can be the difference between life and death. A bus driver in Germany, however, did not just save his own life, but also the lives of 60 children.

Due to a series of unfortunate coincidences, a school bus travelling from Buxtehude to Hamburg managed to get stuck on a railroad track just as the railway crossing barrier was closing. The 23 year-old driver who was transporting the children managed to contact the driver in the train and inform him about the situation.

The train engineer, however, was unable to brake in time and crashed into the side of the bus. The bus driver was able to evacuate all 60 children on-board the vehicle and managed to avoid any causalities. The collision, however, caused damages in excess of $300,000.
