Animal Control Believed Stuffed Tiger Was Real

A Michigan animal control officer mistakenly took a stuffed tiger lying on a driveway as a live one when answering the call of a worried neighbor. Late on Thursday, Joe Dainelis of Kent County Animal Control traveled to Southwest Grand Rapids to check out the potential danger, and he couldn’t believe what he saw. From far away, it looked the animal was a real, young tiger.

Dainelis equipped himself with a pole and a door from a cage. He also knew he couldn’t do it alone, so he called the police for assistance. With a second pair of eyes, officer Rachel Jensen checked the surroundings and was able to get behind the animal. That’s when the danger was over, according to a report from MLive: “When Jensen emerged, she wore a broad smile. There was no denying it, with an up-close view, the creature was fake.”

The officer that got tricked wasn’t the only one as the neighborhood was worried, but they won’t be joked on in animal control like Dainelis will be.
