Amy Schumer Parodies One Direction In Her Latest Video

Amy Schumer debuted her new video on Comedy Central’s YouTube channel targeting One Direction and pop songs with sexist messages. Her latest episode of Inside Amy Schumer features a parody video titled “Girl, You Don’t Need Makeup” that sounds an awful lot like One Direction’s 2011 single “What Makes You Beautiful”. The music video begins with four boys singing to her about her natural beauty, asking Schumer to wipe the make up off because she is “perfect when (she) wakes up“. One guy goes “You’re perfect and I think you should know. You don’t need no lipstick, you don’t need no blush, ’cause you’ve got that inner-natural glow.” Another serenades, “you’re beautiful and who cares what they think, now wash that lovely face off in the sink.” And “girl you don’t need make-up, you’re perfect when you wake up, just walk around like that all day.”

It’s all fun and games until Schumer removes her make up and the boys change their minds, singing they would rather she “just put it on,” following it up with lines “girl I can’t be seen with the ghost from the ring,” “I didn’t know that your lashes were so stubby and pale,” and “just a little mascara and you’ll look female.”

Schumer encouraged fans to post their selfies on social media with the hashtag #girlyoudontneedmakeup. The results were overwhelming and to celebrate Schumer tweeted: “I have been brought to tears with all the strong, badass, incredible women tonight. In jungles, jumping out of planes, holding their babies.”
