Australia Accidentally Leaked Obama’s Personal Data

According to a report by The Guardian, Australian officials accidentally leaked personal data of world leaders, including the that of President Barack Obama. An employee of Australia’s immigration service is believed to have accidentally emailed the personal data, such as passport numbers, of 31 world leaders to the organizers of the Asian Cup soccer competition.

This incident is reported to have occurred on November 7th, 2014, in the days before the G-20 summit in Brisbane. Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, were among those attending who’s information was leaked. An email by an immigration officer, obtained by The Guardian was quoted as saying:

The personal information which has been breached is the name, date of birth, title, position nationality, passport number, visa grant number and visa subclass held relating to 31 international leaders (i.e. prime ministers, presidents and their equivalents) attending the G20 leaders summit.”
