New Super-Computer Can Accurately Predict When You’ll Die

There is a new super-computer being used by a hospital in Boston that has the ability to tell patients whether or not they’re going to die soon. It apparently has had a 96% accuracy rate so far, which is both terrifying, and in some cases, reassuring. The computer supposedly gathers this information by using data from over 250,000 different patient records over the last 30 years, and can use that information to determine its strangely accurate predictions.

Dr. Steve Horng said this about the machine: “We can predict with 96 per cent confidence when patients are facing a high probability of dying. If the computer says you’re going to die, you probably will die in the next 30 days. This artificial intelligence is really about the augmenting of doctors’ ability to take care of patients.

Whether or not this is a positive or negative advance in technology is really a subjective issue, as some people may want to know when they will die, and others may not. Either way, it is really neat to see how far technology has advanced, even within the last decade!
