The Future Of Fifty Shades Of Grey Might Be In Jeopardy
Even after the widely successful adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, it looks like Sam Taylor-Johnson won’t be returning to direct the next two films. Universal Studios has yet to make an official statement on who will be replacing her, but Taylor-Johnson has released the following statement:
“Directing Fifty Shades Of Grey has been an intense and incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful. I have Universal to thank for that. I forged close and lasting relationships with the cast, producers and crew and most especially, with Dakota and Jamie. While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three.”
It was rumored that the development of the movie had been rocky since the beginning. The author of the novels, E.L. James, and Taylor-Johnson were said to have had many arguments concerning the direction of the film, which caused a lot of stress on the set. As it stands, James is set to write the screenplay for the sequel but any word of a director is still unknown. Chances are they’ll find somebody to fill the gap soon, given how lucrative the franchise is.
Fifty Shades Darker is currently set to release sometime in 2017.
