Plane Makes Emergency Landing Without Landing Gear

On the Monday morning of May 11th, a Canadair Regional Jet, on its route from Monterey to Los Angeles, called into the tower informing them of an issue with the landing gear. The plane approached Runway 24L, knowing it was not going to be a smooth landing. The plane had to make an emergency landing and emergency crews were called to the runway. The passengers were notified of the issue and were told by the crew how to properly brace themselves for impact.

As the plane landed, its left main landing gear would not extend and the belly of the plane skid along the runway, while the left wing impacted with the surface seemingly breaking apart. The plane came to a stop in the middle of the runway, still attached. Skywest flight #5316 had 40 passengers and 3 crew members on board, all passengers aboard survived and walked off the plane. The passengers were thankful for the expertise of the pilot.
