Packages Of Marijuana Wash Up On Beaches After Tropical Storm Ana

An Alabama man, Ron Smith, was taking a pleasant stroll along the shores of Orange Beach when he saw something odd-looking floating in the water. At first he thought it was some sort of cushion, but then quickly realized it was a bag of compressed marijuana.

Smith chose to do the right thing: he called the police, who soon arrived at the beach. The compressed package of marijuana was estimated to weigh about 10 pounds and was worth nearly $8,000.

A similar bag of marijuana washed up on the shores of North Carolina on May 10th. The Atlantic Beach Police received a call on Sunday morning about a suspicious package, and after arriving at the beach, they quickly determined the package contained about 12 pounds of marijuana. What’s more, the package was covered in barnacles and other sea creatures, so it had been adrift for some time.

No one is certain where these marijuana packages are coming from, but authorities are assuming that the recent Tropical Storm Ana likely has something to do with these mysterious gifts.
