Man Who Claims Evil Twin Robbed Stores Gets 60 Years In Jail

The saying goes “don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time” — which are words to live by, of course. That hasn’t stopped countless criminals from trying to get away with it, with varying levels of success. It’s safe to assume that success rate is fairly low, especially with cases like Steven Felton’s dragging the average down.

The 34-year-old was arrested and brought to court for his armed robberies throughout Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley. With the evidence piled against him — from surveillance and witness testimonies, at a bare minimum — Felton’s guilt was certain, and he had no chance of walking away a free man. The wrinkle in the case, however slight, is that Felton decided to act as his own defense attorney. It didn’t help; he had laughing fits, burst into tears, and claimed that his evil twin was the one responsible for the robberies.

His antics only delayed the inevitable: a sentence that ranged from 62 years to a whopping 124. Given his constant robberies and the trauma he reportedly caused for the innocent, it’s natural that he would have to face so much time in a state prison. One would think that his courtroom antics didn’t earn any sympathy — which proves how important it is to have a decent lawyer.
