Harvard Worker Stole $80,000 For Lego And An iPad
A former employee of Harvard is currently being charged with stealing over $80,000 from the renowned school by using a credit card that they gave him. The man ended up purchasing thousands of dollars worth of Legos and other personal items.
Shawn Bunn, of Waltham, now has GPS monitoring after he plead not guilty earlier this week to charges of larceny and false entry into corporate books. Prosecutors are saying the 33-year-old man used the university-issued credit card over a period of four years to purchase personal items. He then covered his tracks by submitting false reports and receipts to the university.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said: “This is a breach of trust by a school employee. Over a period of four years the defendant is alleged to have made personal purchases in excess of $80,000 therefore diverting resources from the students and faculty of Harvard University.”
We cannot even imagine how many Legos someone can purchase with thousands of dollars. We’d love to find out, but probably in a more legit manner, instead of stealing it from a university.
