Ed Sheeran Stopped Singing During His Concert, The Reason Why Is Heartwarming

Couples getting engaged while attending Ed Sheeran’s concert is not something new. What is interesting with the proposal on May 6th at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas, is that it happened right on the concert stage with a bit of help from Sheeran himself.

Midway through his performance of “All of the Stars“, theme song of the inspiring and tear-jerking flick The Fault in Our Stars, Sheeran stopped to ask a man if he would like to come up the stage. Sheeran said the man had been holding a note for him the entire concert, which was the opening concert of the North American leg of his Multiply World Tour.

I’ve never actually done this before,” said Sheeran after putting down his guitar. “I have no idea what’s gonna happen next,” he added while waiting for the couple to get on the stage. When the couple came up the stage, Sheeran hugged the couple, gave the mic to the man, and sat down to watch the whole thing unfold.

The man gave a beautiful speech beginning with a reference from Sheeran’s song. “I’m just thinking out loud here. I’ve met a lot of people in my days and to come across someone so amazing, so talented and so beautiful inside and out that there was no way I was going to let her go,” stated the man. The man eventually popped the question to which she said yes. Sheeran later shared a video of the event on his Twitter account saying “proposal tonight in austin, i might’ve welled up, but don’t say anything.”

Helping the two get engaged is the latest of Sheeran’s heartwarming deeds. Sheeran previously crashed a wedding to perform for a newly-wed’s first dance.
