On Saturday, an eagle named Darshan made a new world record by flying off Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, which is the world’s tallest building; standing at a height of 2,722 feet. A camera, which was strapped to the bird’s back, recorded the flight. The flight was broadcast live on BBC News channel.

The charity Freedom Conservation organized the flight to increase awareness about endangered birds. It works in partnership with Save our Species and UNESCO. The imperial eagle is an example of an endangered species. Ronald Menzel, Director of Freedom Conservation, said:

“We know that people love these types of videos. It’s a great way for us to attract the public’s attention to endangered animals and to the fact that humans need to learn how to share their space with these animals.”
