Does This 87-Year-Old Ukranian Have The Largest Family In The World?

Pavel Semenyuk, 87, has applied to the Guinness World Records for having the largest family on the planet. The Ukraine national always dreamed of having a large family, and his prayers were answered when he and his wife had 13 children.

Over many years and after many marriages and births, the Semenyuk family has grown to a mind-boggling 346 living relatives. The youngest member in the clan is just 2 weeks old, and Pavel has 13 children, 127 grandchildren, 203 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The retired construction worker is extremely happy with his large family, however the only drawback is he cannot remember all of their names; “I know the names of those who are older. But I often cannot remember the names of the young ones,” he said.

Thankfully many of the sons and grandsons joined Pavel’s construction business, and when any of the relatives has a family they all join together and build a new house in their village. It is believed that 30 children from the Semenyuk clan attend a local school, and Pavel’s daughter Vira, 66, has said that birthdays and weddings are huge events.

“We cook huge pots of food to celebrate our birthdays and weddings. The women always help each other.”

Currently the largest family in the Guinness World Records is 192, so the Semenyuk family are setting out to not only beat this record, but completely destroy it. Their family has almost double of the current record holders.
