Bullied Boy Cuts Long Locks For Cancer Patients

8-year-old Christian McPhilamy grew out his beautiful blonde hair for two years to donate it to patients dealing with cancer. McPhilamy said during the process of growing out his hair, he was bullied. People would call the courageous kid a girl and often told him that he needed to cut his long hair off.

Christian McPhilamy decided to grow out his hair when he was just 6-years-old after seeing a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital commercial discussing pediatric cancer. McPhilamy’s mother, Deeanna Thomas said during that time her son was curious about creating wigs for cancer patients. Christian then decided to grow out his hair and donate his locks to a charity called Children With Hair Loss. Once Christian’s hair length reached his goal, he decided to chop off his hair. The 8-year-old was able to donate four 10-inch ponytails.

His mother, Deeanna Thomas, stated that she is proud of her son for reaching his goal, despite the harsh criticism and bullying he had to face during the process. She said that her son is truly an inspiration for accomplishing his goals. “I was blown away… usually when Christian sets his mind to something, he pretty much goes with it. He doesn’t let anything falter his goals. I was pretty confident that he was actually going to follow through with it.”
