Boy Accidentally Punches Hole In 17th Century Masterpiece

Unfortunately for one twelve year old boy, and the world of art, a gangling growth-spurt may have led to a 17th Century painting, worth more than 1.5 million dollars, getting damaged. The incident occurred at the “Face of Leonardo, Images of a Genius You” exhibit, on tour in Taiwan. A 12 year old boy was walking by the painting when he stumbled, inadvertently putting his fist through the canvas. Thankfully, a Taiwanese restoration artist will be fixing the hole and shipping the masterpiece back to Italy.

The organizers of the exhibition say they aren’t blaming the boy, and they don’t hold his family responsible. That’s certainly good news for the boys parents, who don’t have to pay the exorbitant restoration cost. It’s also good news for the boy; just imagine the grounding you’d get for setting your parents back 1.5 million bucks.
