Anti-Gay Republican Caught Sending Lurid Photos On Gay Dating Site

Randy Boehning, an anti-gay Republican state senator from North Dakota, has been outed as gay, thanks to a man he reportedly sent a lurid photo to using the gay dating app, Grindr. Now the lawmaker claims that his outing was in direct retaliation for his votes against expanding the rights of homosexuals.

According to Inforum, the 52-year old legislator says a Capitol employee told him there was a specific lawmaker who had vowed to exact revenge for Boehning’s vote against SB 2279. The bill would have granted homosexuals legal protection against discrimination. Neither Boehning nor the Capitol employee would say which lawmaker they suspected.

The man who did out Boehning is 22-year old Dustin Smith, who says he recognized the legislator from a number of sexually suggestive conversations the two had on Grindr. At one point, Boehning sent Smith a number of explicit photos and eventually sent him a picture of his penis. Smith turned the photo as well as conversations over to the local paper. Smith said the Republican’s political positions certainly played a part in the outing. “How can you discriminate against the person you’re trying to pick up?” Smith said in a recent interview.
