Young Woman Charged After Convincing Boyfriend To Kill Himself

An 18-year-old girl has recently been charged by the police after she encouraged her boyfriend to take his own life. The woman, Michelle Carter, is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter. Earlier this week, Carter faced a court in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

The court read thousands of messages between Carter and her boyfriend, Conrad Roy. Many of them portrayed Carter as an uncaring menace to the health and safety of her boyfriend. She managed to convince Conrad that his only option in life was to commit suicide. A hashtag, #JusticeForConrad, has been going viral since the trial took place. A lot of people around the world are expressing their disgust over the heinous crime Carter committed.

Carter was on the phone while Roy killed himself, and even told a friend to listen as her boyfriend cried in pain. Her defense team is claiming that Roy had previously tried to kill himself, as he had a history of depression. Cater will return to court on October 2nd, where a judge intends to reveal whether the charges will be dropped. If she is charged, then Carter will face up to 20 years in prison.
