When Kurt Cobain passed in 1994, the rock community was at a standstill. Gone was a legendary singer who had only experienced a relatively short but monumental career. Despite his early demise, his gravely voice and deep lyrics have managed to live on through former fans as well as a new generation of listeners. For a time, there hasn’t been any new information on the life of the singer, until now. A 40 minute, uncut interview from early 1994 has been revealed.

In this interview released by MTV, the musician holds nothing back. He talks about how his life and views on the world changed since having his daughter, Frances Bean. He also gives an insight into what he believed to be the future of Nirvana and his dislike for the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” music video. In one chilling moment, he tells the interviewer that he is “happy” with his life. While many portions of this interview have been seen in various documentaries, the entirety has never been viewed in full by the public, until now.
