Tom Holland’s Early Life

Born on June 1st, 1996, to mother Nicola, a photographer, and father Dominic, a comedian and author, Holland is the oldest among his three siblings. He grew up in Kingston upon Thames, in England, and attended the Roman Catholic Preparatory School at Wimbledon before eventually switching over to the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon.

While at Wimbledon, he began taking up dancing at the Nifty Feet Dance School, where he learned some hip-hop moves. During a performance with his dance school staged at the 2006 Richmond Dance Festival, Holland was singled out by choreographer Lynne Page, who was an associate to choreographer Peter Darling, who was managing Billy Elliot the Musical.

Success on TV and the theater

After two years of training and eight successive auditions, Tom Holland eventually made his West End debut on June 28th, securing the role of Billy’s best friend, Michael. His first performance in the title role of Billy occurred on September 8, 2008, and he received a great deal of positive feedback for it.
