Man Accused of Drowning Pet Bunny Rabbit In Hotel’s Swimming Pool

In Tampa, Florida, a 49-year-old man has been accused of trying to drown his pet rabbit in a hotel’s swimming pool. On Monday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reported that the man, Steve B. Rodd, has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.

The incident is still being investigated, but according to the sheriff’s office, Rodd dropped the rabbit into the pool of the Vista Inn on Friday. Making no effort whatsoever to help the rabbit, Rodd proceeded to sit on the deck and watch as the pet struggled for its life. Soon the rabbit went still. Afterwards, Rodd left the pool, leaving the rabbit floating where it had drowned.

A guest reported to the hotel that a dead rabbit was floating in the pool, and then a maintenance worker pulled it out. Rodd is currently in Hillsborough County Jail, but does not yet have an attorney and has yet to comment on the situation.
