Hip Hop Duo Remix Their Hit Album Using Only Cat Sounds

Hip hop duo Run the Jewels have re-released their second studio album, after remixing the songs so that they only include noises sampled directly from cats. Meow the Jewels includes all the tracks from the original album Run the Jewels 2 and features the work of artists and producers such as Snoop Dog, Just Blaze and Prince Paul.

The project began when a Kickstarter campaign was set up by a fan asking the duo to remix some of their songs with cat sounds. Once the fundraising goal of $45,000 was met, Run the Jewels agreed to remix the whole of their album and revealed that a host of high profile names were interested in taking part.

All of the money raised in the Kickstarter will go to charity while sales of a limited edition LP will also see all of the proceeds go to good causes. The group have chosen to donate the funds to charities benefiting the families of Michael brown and Eric Garner.

Did we make the silliest, occasionally most grating possible remix album? Of course. And we did it for you, Mike Brown and Eric Garner,” El-P tweeted after announcing Meow the Jewels release.
