Elderly Nuns Do Not Want Katy Perry On Their Property
Putting more fuel onto the fire of an old flame, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles is in talks with Katy Perry to sell her an old convent in Hollywood. The nuns who once lived in the convent are having none of it. The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary have long disputed the Archdiocese’s right to sell the property.
Earlier in the dispute, Katy Perry tried to assuage the nuns concerns by meeting with them. She showed them a tattoo of Jesus on her wrist and dressed conservatively. But one of the nuns got on the internet and found some things she didn’t like. “Well, I found Katy Perry and I found her videos and … if it’s all right to say, I wasn’t happy with any of it,” said Sister Rita to the LA Times.
Sister Rita Callanan and Sister Catherine Rose, two of the remaining 5 sisters in the community, have sold the property to a local businesswoman in order to stop the sale to Perry. The Archdiocese has sued the local woman, who has already started moving in to the house. All of this is currently still in the courts.
