Co-Worker Runs Off With Winning Lottery Ticket

Fourteen colleagues from Victoria, Australia, put in $20 each towards a lottery syndicate in October last year and won $16.6 million (just under $13 million US), but one has run off with the cash!

The day after the winning Powerball lottery draw, Gary Baron, a courier driver for logistics company Toll Group, called in sick and then abruptly resigned the following week. His co-workers haven’t seen him since, except for one of his female co-workers who he is reportedly now in a relationship with. Since quitting his job, the 49 year old man has bought a luxury car worth $200,000 and a two-storey home. His son has also recently bought a new home, complete with pool, but it is unknown whether this was bought with the lottery winnings.

His former colleagues (except from his new girlfriend) are currently suing Baron for failing to share in the multi-million dollar winnings. They hope to each receive just over $1 million each if successful. Mr Baron had no comment when contacted by Australian journalists.
