Bill Cosby Confined To Home And Ordered To Wear Ankle Monitor

Two days after Bill Cosby’s conviction, the 80-year-old actor and comedian has already started life off as an inmate. A judge has said that he is to be confined to his Philadelphia mansion, and only be allowed to leave to meet with his lawyers or visit a doctor. This will all be tracked with his new GPS ankle monitor.

The mansion he is confined to is the same mansion where he jurors have concluded that he drugged and molested Andrea Constand, a basketball administrator from Temple University. Cosby was convicted on Thursday of three counts of aggravated indecent assault, possibly receiving up to 10 years for each count. The ankle monitor will stay on until sentencing is completed, and will require permission to leave the premises to visit either his lawyers or a doctor.

Since this all began, dozens of women have come forward accusing Cosby of sexual misconduct, however Constand’s allegations are the only ones resulting in criminal charges. The 12 day trial saw five other women take the stand and claim that they were drugged and sexually assaulted by Cosby. Gloria Allred, an attorney that represents 33 women who have made accusations against the actor, shared the following outside the court after the verdict was given.

“I want to thanks the jury, justice has been done!” Allred said. “We are so happy we can finally say women are believed and not only on #MeToo but in a court of law, where they were under oath… where they testified truthfully, where there were attempts to discredit them and after all is said and done, women were finally believed. I’m the happiest I have been about any court decision in the last 42 years.”
