Paul Walker Tribute Song Brings Vin Diesel To Tears

After the death of Paul Walker in 2013, the completion of filming the last of the Fast and Furious sequels, Furious 7, was expectantly difficult for the cast members. According to The Huffington Post, Vin Diesel called it the “hardest movie he’s ever done,” and Tyrese shared that the cast is sadly still mourning the loss of their friend. Even the director, James Wan, stated that he is still very upset over Walker’s death, and told Uproxx, “I made the movie, I edited the ending, I did the music, and I cut it all together, and yet still I cry.”

The ending of Furious 7 brings us the end of Brian O’Conner, the character played by Paul Walker in the Fast and Furious series. An original song, See You Again, by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth became the Anthem to Paul Walker’s tribute as the film ended. President of Film Music and Publishing at Universal Pictures, Mike Knobloch, told The Huffington Post:

“See You Again is a really unique thing, in kind of a category of its own. There’s a very real and genuine family behind the scenes and onscreen in the movie. It was an emotional process. It was a difficult thing to treat like a piece of commerce, so we never did treat it like a piece of commerce. It was always handled as a very sensitive thing.”

The movie premiered this week, and a hand and foot print ceremony for Paul Walker was held in Hollywood, California. Vin Diesel, with tears in his eyes, spoke at this ceremony, as Time Magazine reports. In his speech, Diesel stated,

“Last year, it was really hard to come back to work….the studio was saying, ‘We feel your soul, and we’ll do whatever we have to do to honor your brother [Paul].” Diesel and the cast of the Fast and Furious series used this last movie as a way to honor Walker. “The movie is more than a movie,” Diesel told Time. “There’s something emotional that happens to you, where you walk out of this movie and you appreciate everyone you love because you just never know when the last day is you’re going to see them.”
