It was a terrible time, with crews trying to slow the damage and get the fires under control. However, these women felt it was the perfect time to take a selfie. This is nothing new, as people go around taking selfies where tragic events have happened and post them to social media sites. The group of women have taken a lot of heat from their selfie and caused a lot of outrage, as the New York Post ran the photo on their cover, calling them “Village Idiots”. Even with the outrage, this is a trend that won’t be dying any time soon, especially with the new selfie sticks available.
