Vladimir Putin Resurfaces After Rumors Of His Demise Run Rampant
Russian President Vladimir Putin had gone a week without showing his face in public, and the world was starting to get nervous. When talking about the most prominent world leaders, they rarely go a day without being seen out in public but most people believed that Putin had gone unseen since March 5. Finally on Monday, he resurfaced at a meeting with Kyrgyz counterpart Almazbek Atambayev.
In his absence, any number of Western media outlets have been dreaming up all kinds of scenarios as to why the Russian leader has suddenly been so out of contact. Some people were even claiming a coup had gone down and that the new government was hiding the fact that Putin was dead.
Now that Vladimir Putin has officially resurfaced alive and well, the President’s staff has taken to cracking jokes about where he was and why he wasn’t publicly available. “Have you seen the president [Putin] crushed with paralysis and captured by the generals?“ Peskov asked journalists gathered for a press conference according, “[He] just arrived from Switzerland where he was delivering babies, as you know.”
It should be pointed out that since the Kremlin won’t say exactly why Vladimir Putin was out of touch for so long, rumors are bound to persist about where he was.
