TLC Pulls Reality Show Following Child Molestation Accusations

TLC – the television network – has removed 19 Kids and Counting from their broadcasting schedule following recent reports that star Josh Duggar was accused of molesting numerous underage girls when he was a teenager. The network released a statement earlier this weekend, saying, “Effective immediately, TLC has pulled all episodes of 19 Kids and Counting currently from the air. We are deeply saddened and troubled by this heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and victims at this difficult time.”

Last Thursday, TLC found themselves at the head of global outrage on social media when they aired a marathon of 19 Kids and Counting. The television network was said to have another five episodes of the show ready to air throughout the next week, but they have since been removed. Speaking with People, Josh Duggar, 27, responded to the child molestation accusations, saying:

“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”

Following the news going public, Duggar resigned from his post at the Christian lobbying group the Family Research Council on Thursday. His wife, Anna, 26, supports her husband, saying she hopes everyone who watches them realizes they are not a perfect family.
