Pastor Commits Suicide Due To Ashley Madison’s Hack

A pastor who had an account on the extra marital affairs website Ashley Madison has committed suicide. Those close to John Gibson say he had been struggling with depression and the revelation that he was a member of the website appear to have pushed him over the edge. The pastor and professor at New Orleans Baptist Seminary was also a father of two and he committed suicide about six days after the Ashley Madison list leaked.

He talked about his depression, he talked about having his name on there, and he just said he was very, very sorry,” his widow Christi recently told CNN. “For John, it carried such a shame.” People who knew Gibson said that he was recognized as being a kind man who made a mistake in signing up for the website. Ashley Madison was hacked in July and a massive listing of people who were members was released online. Gibson’s is not believed to be the first suicide stemming from that hack.
