Man Trapped In Storm Drain For Four Days

Firefighters in Nashville had to break through a cement storm drain pipe to free a man who spent several days trapped in the narrow space. A man and his family were at the Centennial Sportsplex when they heard someone yelling for help. The family used flashlights from their cellphones and discovered a man who was trapped about ten feet within the pipeline. Firefighters dug into the ground and broke through the concrete pipe to free the bewildered man. The rescue mission took about two hours. When he was freed, the man said,”Praise God. Thank you. I have been down here forever.”

Nashville Fire Department officials said the man spent a little over four days trapped in the storm drain near the Sportsplex’s tennis courts. Officials said he claims to have climbed into the drain from a nearby street, looking for some type of adventure and became trapped due to a bend in the narrow drain pipe.

The man suffered from dehydration as well as non-life threatening cuts and bruises on his body. He was taken to a local Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. This situation could have been a lot worse if it had actually rained.
