Man Shot In Leg After FBI Agent Does A Backflip

Thomas Reddington, 24, was sitting down at a picnic table with friends at the Mile High Spirits Tasting Room in Denver, Colorado, last Saturday, when he became the subject of an incredibly unfortunate accident.

On the dance floor at the nightclub, off-duty FBI agent Chase Bishop was dancing when his gun – that was sitting between his back and his pants – became dislodged while Bishop did a backflip. When Bishop picked the gun up off the ground, it appears that he accidentally pulled the trigger and the stray bullet went through Reddington’s leg and into the wall.

“We sat down at one of those picnic tables, I heard a loud bang and I thought some idiot set off a firecracker” Reddington said in an interview. “Then I looked down at my leg and see some brown residue. I’m still thinking it’s a firework… all of a sudden from the knee down my leg became completely red. And that’s when it clicked in my head, ‘Oh, I’ve been shot'”

The bullet hit Reddington below his knee on his left leg, going straight through. He blacked out due to blood loss, and upon regaining consciousness someone had used a belt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. He said he had lost a lot of blood, soaking “through several blankets, several towels, [and] a few gauze pads.”

He has since hired a lawyer, however he has said he doesn’t want to ruin Bishop’s life. “I don’t blame the guy. I don’t want to ruin his life. I just want a private phone call from the guy.” Denver police said that they are awaiting lab results to see if Bishop was drinking, and prosecutors are determining whether Bishop will face any charges.
