Kate Spade’s Father Dies A Day Before Her Funeral
American fashion designer Kate Spade, 55, was found dead in her New York apartment on June 5th. Spade took her own life after suffering from depression and anxiety for years, and even refused to attend rehab in fear that it may tarnish her brand.
Kate’s heartbroken father has passed away just a day before the fashion designer’s funeral, in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 20th. Earl F. Brosnahan Jr’s death was confirmed in a statement released by his family, who believe that his heartbreak over the death of his daughter contributed to his passing.
“We are deeply saddened to announce that Katy’s father, Earl F. Brosnahan, Jr. (Frank), passed away last night at age 89. He had been in failing health of late and was heartbroken over the recent death of his beloved daughter. He was at home and surrounded by family at the time of his passing. He was especially proud of his wife, children and grandchildren.”
Kate’s funeral went ahead as planned in Kansas City, with her husband of 24 years giving an eulogy. The funeral took place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, which is the same church Spade’s grandparents were married in.
