If you’re old enough to remember the heady times of the late 1980’s and the cartoons that ruled television like G.I. Joe and Transformers then you probably also remember a relatively shortlived show titled Jem And The Holograms. Despite it not being on television for all that long, the series gained a devoted following thanks in large part to the subject matter which covered a “Plain Jane” music industry executive and her friends who were all secretly a super popular rock band known as Jem And The Holograms. Think Hannah Montana, only adults. Fast forward 20 or 30 years and you have a live action movie based on that story that is due out in the very near future.

On Tuesday, fans and potential fans of the idea got their first look trailer. The movie stars Aubrey Peeples as Jerica Benton/Jem alongside a whole host of young, pretty people who double as the Holograms. In what almost seems like a nod to just how long ago this story idea first surfaced, Molly Ringwold and Juliette Lewis also make appearances. It was around the time the cartoon was popular that either of these actresses could say the same.
