Elton John Wants To Discuss Gay Rights With Putin

Elton John has been a remarkable spokesperson for gay rights over the years and he has worked wonders when it comes to raising people’s awareness and tolerance regarding the important issue. He has now turned his sights towards one of the most controversial figures in world politics currently; Vladimir Putin.

The highly-renowned musician spoke to BBC recently regarding Putin’s remarks about gay rights and his insinuation that gay people are a threat to children. Elton John said “Give me a break, you are President of Russia, and you go and say stupid things like that?” He called Putin’s comments ‘isolating’, ‘prejudiced’ and ‘ridiculous’ and said that he would love to sit down and chat with him regarding this matter personally. The musician is also acutely aware that this was not a likely possibility and called it ‘pie in the sky’.

Sir Elton John is currently in Ukraine to meet the country’s President Petro Poroshenko in order to garner stronger support for the LGBT community.
