Australian Agriculture Minister Threatens To Euthanize Johnny Depp’s Dogs

Australian authorities have threatened to euthanize Johnny Depp’s dogs, Pistol and Boo, if the actor doesn’t send them back to the U.S. by Saturday.

Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce found out that Depp had brought the two terriers overseas by means of his private jet. The minister made his opinions very clear: “If you start letting movie stars — even though they’ve been the sexiest man alive twice — to come into our nation (with pets), then why don’t we just break laws for everybody? It’s time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States”.

Johnny Depp had been filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in Australia a couple months ago, but cut his hand on glass. He was flown back to the U.S. and had surgery on the wound. When he returned to Australia in late April, Depp brought his two dogs along with him, bypassing regulations. Australia has strict rules for bringing animals into the country. Pet owners typically have to apply for a permit in advance, and they have to keep their pets in “home quarantine” for 10 days once they arrive in Australia.

As of yet, Depp has not commented on the matter. On a lighter note, the whole story is becoming popular in social media circles. The topic is trending on Twitter under #WarOnTerrier.
