Indian Worker Has Arm Cut Off By Employer In Saudi Arabia
A woman from India is in serious condition in hospital after the Saudi Arabian couple she was working with cut off her arm when she tried to escape. India’s foreign ministry is now asking the authorities in Saudi Arabia to investigate the matter and prosecute the employers after the brutal attack.
According to reports from her family, Kasturi Munirathinam had been working for the family for several weeks but had become fed up with being harassed and mistreated. She tried to escape last week but was caught and her employers then chopped off her arm and seriously damaged her spinal cord.
“Ever since she went to work with this family in July, things were not alright. My mother was not even allowed to speak to us over the phone, she was not given proper food and was forced to work long hours,” said her son S Kumar.
“When she tried to escape the harassment and torture, her right arm was chopped off by the woman employer. Now my sister can’t even sit and do simple things on her own, as her spinal cord has also been injured,” her sister S Vijayakumari added.
