US Soap Films Special Scene For Disabled Syrian Refugee

US daytime soap Days of Our Lives has made headlines after filming a special scene for a 16-year-old disabled Syrian refugee. James Scott returned as his deceased character alongside Alison Sweeny in the soap, speaking about the refugee crisis and mentioning Noujain Mustaffa directly.

The Syrian born refugee traveled more than 4,000 miles in a wheelchair with her sister as they fled Syria to try to reach Germany, gaining attention from media outlets for her tough journey. She referenced the soap, telling journalists that she learned to speak English by watching the show.

I was waking up at 08:00 some days to watch it. That’s a great show,” she said. “But they killed the main character that I loved!

The sisters are now living in Dortmund where they have applied for asylum and Noujain also had a message for other refugees who are making the journey from Syria and surrounding areas, saying: “You are stronger and braver than you think. Fight for what you want and I am sure you will get it.
