Man Survives Horrific Car Accident Following Groundbreaking Surgery
A horrifying car crash left young Tony Cowan with his head detached from his spine. Doctors said his injuries made him incapable of surviving, however, his head has now been reattached following a groundbreaking surgery, reports Daily Mail.
Late last year, Tony’s car was out of control and hit a speed bump, wrapping the entire vehicle around a telephone pole. His heart stopped, but paramedics managed to bring him back at the scene before rushing him to the nearest hospital. At the hospital, doctors discovered a C2 fracture in his neck and a complete spinal cord injury. He was not supposed to survive.
Scans revealed Tony had zero brain activity. His partner, mother, and the rest of his family said their goodbyes as they decided to turn off the life support machine. However, Tony opened his eyes and proved he wanted to survive this horrible ordeal.
Doctors reattached his head using tissue and muscle, and were astounded to discover it worked. Metal plates and bolts were used to reattach his skull completely, and the operation was a success.
