Autopsy Finds The Cause Of Death Of Children Found In Freezer

On the inside of a Detroit apartment, dark things have been occurring, with the outside world completely unaware until just this week. Court officers delivering an eviction notice were the first to discover two deceased children in Mitchell Blair’s freezer. The medical examiner has since determined the deaths as homicides, saying each of the two kids suffered many accounts of physical abuse and blows to their bodies. One of those children had thermal burns. He determined the children’s time of death to be August 2012 at age 9 and May 2013 at age 13. Blair’s two surviving children, 17 and 11, are currently in the protective care of a relative.

This tragedy went unnoticed in the small Detroit townhouse for over two years. When the first child was killed, as a result of two weeks of torture according to the oldest daughter (age 17), the mother took the children out of school. In Michigan, there are no regulations as to when or how the parents can take their children out of school and no regulation on the success, or failure, of their homeschooling. Seven months later, the second child was strangled to death and Blair forced her eldest to wrap the body of the 13 year old girl and put her in the freezer with her brother. As of yet, there is no news as to what provoked such a violent and gruesome reaction.

Currently, the mother is under charges of first degree child abuse and will likely receive charges of first degree murder for each of her deceased children.
