After 18 Years A New Dragon Ball Anime Series In The Works
It has been 18 years since the last episode was released for the hit anime franchise Dragon Ball. The series has gone through a few iterations since it first released as Dragon Ball, but the franchise has still contained a massive following. Most recently Akira Toriyama, who is the creator of the Dragon Ball series, has worked on the latest film releases for the franchise. Both Dragon Ball Z: Battle of The Gods and the most recent release Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F, have become hits with new and past fans of the series, making it a catalyst for releasing a completely new anime series.
As we mentioned before, the Dragon Ball franchise has seen a few iterations with Dragon Ball Z picking up the events after Dragon Ball. However, it’s important to know that Akira Toriyama was not involved with Dragon Ball GT, an anime series that took our beloved Z Fighters into a new age following the events of Dragon Ball Z. Because of not being involved with Dragon Ball GT, this new anime series that is already in the works will take place strictly after the Majin Buu saga from Dragon Ball Z.
According to a press release by Toei Animation, the studio is already in production of Dragon Ball Super. This announcement is still fresh so not much is known about the upcoming series but we do know that the production has been going on for quite some time now. In fact, Dragon Ball Super will be releasing within Japan this July but there is no word yet on when other markets will be receiving their own dubbed version.
Original Japanese voice actress for Son Goku, Son Gohan and Son Goten, Masako Nozawa, has expressed her interest in the series and hopes that Dragon Ball Super will be able to deliver the same impact as the original series had all those years ago. Currently within the United States, the latest Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F is set to release with an English dub this Summer of 2015 though a specific release date has yet to be announced.
