Edward Snowden Believes Aliens Want To Connect With Us

NSA whistle-blower Edward Snowden is claiming there are truly aliens out there in the universe, and they simply want to make contact with the Earth right now. No one is truly sure how Snowden knows this, but the man seems pretty sure of himself at this point.

The 32-year-old remains in Russia all on his own after leaking information regarding the U.S. National Security Agency in 2013. Those documents claimed government agencies monitor and use the personal data we store on our mobile devices and computers, and he was completely right about that.

Over the weekend, however, Snowden took things a step further when he called Neil deGrasse Tyson’s podcast, StarTalk. The man said that encryption could be the only reason we have not yet made contact with various alien species throughout our universe. He said:

“So if you have an an alien civilization trying to listen for other civilizations, or our civilization trying to listen for aliens, there’s only one small period in the development of their society when all of their communication will be sent via the most primitive and most unprotected means.

So when we think about everything that we’re hearing through our satellites or everything that they’re hearing from our civilization (if there are indeed aliens out there), all of their communications are encrypted by default. So what we are hearing, that’s actually an alien television show or a phone call [which] is indistinguishable to us from cosmic microwave background radiation.”

While this argument seems plausible, if aliens were indeed trying to make contact, would they send unencrypted messages to try and communicate?
