Police Officer Helps Woman Who Lost 200 Pounds Finish Race

Sometimes you need those inspirational stories to help show that cops are good people. While we have been bombarded with bad cop videos and photos over the past few months, this story will show the other side of things. Asia Ford, a woman that lost over 200 pounds on her own, was trying to continue her healthy journey and completing her first 10K race in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday. The struggle was real as she was getting closer to the finish line, but then an angel came to help her. An angel in the form of Police Lt. Aubrey Gregory.

Ford had passed Mile 5 and was having a hard time with her breathing. The paramedics were called and they checked on her, but she refused to stop. She was going to finish this race and what happened next is truly amazing and will bring a tear to your eye. Gregory was standing nearby and decided to come over and help Ford finish the race by giving her a helpful hand of support. You can see and feel all the emotions in the photo above, including those of her son Terrence.

In a recent interview, Gregory said, “I said, I’m not going to let her stop. We’re going to do this together. So I got out and I grabbed her hand. I had to meet this inspirational woman.”

He did meet her and it lead to the photo and story going viral. Props to the cop for being a great guy and props to Ford for being a true inspiration to so many people out there.
