We all have to spend our hard earned money on personal, everyday products. Some of those personal products have become so expensive that we always look for alternative ways to obtain them. A lot of people are starting to make their own personal products. These products are not only cheaper than going to the store, they are also natural and healthier for your body. Let’s take a look at some natural personal products that are healthier for you and your pockets.

Shampoo

You can make your own shampoo by using just two ingredients. Just mix together one cup of water and one tablespoon of baking soda. Mix well and shampoo your hair like you normally would with store bought shampoo.

Honey Vanilla Bubble Bath

Want to take a bubble bath and some like calming natural products? This Honey Vanilla Bubble Bath is very easy to make. You need to mix together 1/2 cup of light almond oil, 1/4 cup of honey, 1/2 cup of mild liquid hand or body soap, 1 egg white and 1 tablespoon vanilla extract. Pour 1/4 to 1/2 cup under running water. Keep excess in the refrigerator.

Non-Toxic Eye Liner

Buying eyeliner from the store can be very pricy. You can make your own non-toxic eye liner by mixing 2 teaspoons coconut oil, 4 teaspoons aloe vera gel, 1 – 2 capsules of activated charcoal for black, or ½ tsp cocoa powder for Brown. Store mixture in an airtight container.

Non-Toxic Vapor Rub

Store bought vapor rubs are expensive and can smell funny. This Non-Toxic Vapor Rub can be made by following these directions: In a small glass measuring cup or mason jar set over a small pot of hot water on the stove on low heat, gently melt 3 Tbsp grass fed ghee, add 1 Tbsp of beeswax pellets and stir until melted. Remove the oil from the heat and allow it to come to room temperature.

In a small, empty and clean 2 oz. glass jar, add 1 Tbsp of sweet almond oil and 1 tsp of R.C. blend essential oil. When the ghee/beeswax mixture is cool enough to touch, pour into the jar with the almond/essential oil mixture. Stir to combine. Place in the refrigerator to set.

Store at room temperature so it is soft enough to rub on the feet or chest. Rub as needed, every 3-4 hours on the chest or soles of the feet.

Deodorant

Tired of spending money on expensive deodorant? You can make your own by mixing 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup arrowroot powder or cornstarch. Slowly add five to six tablespoons of coconut oil to and mix well with a spoon. Scoop the mixture into a small container with a lid and apply with your fingers.

Simple Clove Mouthwash

Nothing is more refreshing than using mouthwash after a meal. To make Simple Clove Mouthwash, all you need is one tablespoon of whole cloves and one cup of boiling water.

Place the cloves in a heat-proof container, like a canning jar. Pour boiling water over the cloves and cover the container with a lid and allow the mixture to cool. Once cool, strain out the cloves and pour the clove-infused water into a clean container. To use, rinse your mouth with about one teaspoon of the mixture.

Two-Ingredient Lip Balm

Lip Balms keep you lips fresh and moisturized. This Two-Ingredient Lip Balm is very simple to make. You will need one part raw, unfiltered honey and one part unrefined, virgin coconut oil. If your coconut oil is solid, place the jar in warm tap water to soften. Mix ingredients well, and store in a container with a tight lid. Apply using a lip brush, or just dab it on with your finger.

Shaving Cream

People use shaving cream to give them a smooth, silky feel after shaving. Make your own shaving cream by using a double boiler and adding 4 Tbsp of solid shea butter and 3 Tbsp of coconut oil, melt over the lowest heat setting, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat once completely melted.

Add 2 Tbsp of sweet almond oil and 10 -12 drops of pure lavender essential oil, and stir to combine completely. Transfer bowl to the fridge and let the mix harden. Remove from fridge whip until the mixture is the consistency of frosting. Let it sit for a few minutes before transferring to an airtight container. It will last for at least a month.

Lipstick

Homemade lipstick is easier to make than you think. Melt 1 teaspoon beeswax pastilles, 1 teaspoon Shea butter or Cocoa Butter and 1 teaspoon coconut oil in a glass jar without a lid in a small pot of simmering, not boiling, water.

Once all ingredients are mixed well but still liquid, use a dropper to pour into the lip chap container. Fill just below the top because it will expand as it cools. Leave to cool for at least half an hour. Store in a cool place or else it will soften.

Zit Zapper

Everyone hates getting zits. You can get rid of them using this two ingredient zit zapper. In a small pot, gently melt the 2 Tbsp of coconut oil gently on low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and add 3-4 drops of Purification oil. Stir to incorporate and then use an eye dropper to pour into the lip balm tubes. Use as needed.

Hairspray

You can make your own healthier and natural hairspray. Just bring 1/2 cup of water to a boil and turn off heat source. Add 2 tsps of sugar and stir until completely dissolved. Then add 2 tablespoons rubbing alcohol and 6-8 drops of your favorite essential oil scent

Hair Gel

Many store bought hair gels contains items that are not good for your hair. Make your own hair gel by heating 1/2 cup hot distilled or filtered water and mix together with 1/4 teaspoon unflavored gelatin in a small bowl. Stir well to combine and refrigerate for about 3 hours, or until set. Once cooled and set, add 4-6 drops of essential oils and stir to combine. Using a funnel, transfer to a small squeeze bottle for easiest dispensing. Keep gel refrigerated in between uses. The homemade gel will keep for about 2 weeks in the refrigerator.

Body Scrub

This is an easy 5 minute body scrub that can be made right at home. In a large mixing bowl pour 1 cup of carrier oil and add 10-20 drops therapeutic grade essential oil essential. The number of drops of essential oil will determine how strong your body scrub to will be. Add 2 cups salt or sugar and mix to combine.

Exfoliating Face Wash

Washing your face can be so refreshing for your skin. To make this Exfoliating Face Wash, all you need is to combine one teaspoon of skim milk, one teaspoon of raw, unfiltered honey and a few drops of apple cider vinegar in a bowl. Apply it to your skin in a circular motion for a minute or two, followed by rinsing and rinse with warm water.

Deep Conditioning Coconut Oil Hair Treatment

Everyone loves a good conditioner. Mix together two tablespoons of coconut oil, stir until you have a smooth texture. Add one tablespoon of jojoba oil, continue stirring until mixture is even and well-combined. Add three drops of your choice of essential oil.

Stir all ingredients together until a thick, oily mixture is formed. To use, apply to the hair from roots to ends, paying particular attention to any dry areas. Allow it to sit for 15 to 30 minutes and then wash and condition as usual.

Natural Body Spray

Do you want to smell good but don’t want to buy those expensive body sprays at the store? This Natural Body Spray can be made by pouring 8 oz. distilled water, 1 Tbs of witch hazel and 20 – 30 drops of essential oils in an 8oz spray container. Seal tightly and shake well.

Hair Mousse

Hair mousse is needed to help maintain certain hairstyles. You can make an alternative, healthier hair mousse by mixing 1/2 cup of shea butter, warmed slightly to soften, and 1/4 c. coconut oil, at room temperature.

Beat on medium-high until light and fluffy, about 10 minutes. Add 1/4 c. olive oil, 20 drops lavender essential oil, 20 drops tea tree essential oil and 40 drops eucalyptus essential oil. Turn the mixer back on medium-high, and very slowly pour in the olive oil until fully incorporated. Store in a cool, dark place.

Acne Face Wash

Want to get rid of that horrible acne in a natural way? This Acne Face Wash is just for you. Simply mix together 1/4 tablespoon of oatmeal with two teaspoons of baking soda and add water, one teaspoon at a time, until a thick paste is formed. Apply it to your entire face and leave on for 5 to 10 minutes once or twice a week. Rinse with warm water.

Hand Sanitizer

Hand Sanitizer is a great way to keep your hands germ free while on the go. To make your own, you will need to mix together 1/2 teaspoon of witch hazel and four ounces of aloe vera gel in a large bowl. Poke a hole into a vitamin E capsule and squeeze the contents into the mixture. Add 5 to 10 drops of lavender oil. Pour into a 4 oz bottle, preferably an opaque, squeeze-type bottle for easy use.

Toothpaste

In order to make your own natural toothpaste, you’ll need one teaspoon of baking soda, a 1/2 teaspoon of finely ground sea salt, one drop of peppermint oil and little drops of water. Combine ingredients in a small bowl and mix until a thick paste is formed.
