11 Disgusting Habits We All Have

Lists, Other, Shocking, Weird

You’re disgusting, you just don’t know it yet. We have all sorts of habits that are infested with germs, dirt and grime. Some seem like fairly common dealings to even friendly gestures. Don’t be fooled, there are all sorts of nasty illnesses and germs that humans can contract just from not paying attention and washing their hands or belongings. Here are eleven examples of daily habits we all have but fail to notice just how nasty they actually are. By avoiding these points or properly sanitizing, you might avoid getting sick from the germs hidden in plain sight.

Cosmetics

Ladies, don’t share your make-up. It might be a friendly gesture but think about it for a second. All the grime, grease, germs and dirt from somebody’s face is mixing in with your brushes or other cosmetics. In fact, you should probably start cleaning out your brushes now.

Brushing Teeth

Brushing your teeth is very important to your hygiene so please don’t stop! However, there are some elements around your toothbrush that will turn stomachs. First off, all the germs from your mouth are gathered on the brush and are simply rinsed off quickly. The remaining saliva runs down the brush and likely into your toothbrush holder. Furthermore, just a few feet away is likely the toilet which can spray germs out after flushing.

Money

I bet you didn’t expect to see money at this point on our list. Physical cash is exchanged all over and we’ve all got different bills and coins in our possession that have been struck decades ago. Think of how many people touched and used that bill. Furthermore, your credit cards are also dirty, since we use them to swipe and activate ATM machines.

Pets

We love and care for our pets, but that doesn’t mean they are full of nasty germs. Dogs to cats, each clean practically every inch of their body and that same tongue ends up in your face or hands. It’s a great way for pets to show how much they love you, but we all know where that tongue’s been.

Bras

Girls wearing a bra can be disgusting. This is for those who have their favorite bra and decide to wear it over and over without tossing it in the washer. Seriously, wear it and then wash it! Don’t let it get dirty, sweaty and grimy before you finally take it off to wash.

Dropped Food

We’ve all heard of the “five second rule” in which your food is perfectly fine if it’s picked up off the ground within five seconds. Don’t be fooled, you walked on that floor with your dirty feet, socks and shoes. If you own pets, then their fur, toys and food have likely been in that region of the floor. It doesn’t take five seconds for germs, dirt, hair and bacteria to climb on to your food.

Phones

Everyone has a cell phone! We browse the web, play video games, text our friends and make calls. What we are not doing is taking the care to wash our hands or clean the phone before or after use. Now our dirty fingers have been swiping around the display and then placed on our face.

Gas Pump

Unless you have an electric car with a socket you can use at home, you’re filling up with gasoline at the nearest gas station frequently. Pumps don’t get washed; they are used and abused by so many people. What is even worse is if you stop at a gas station in a populated area, even more people are using the gas pump hourly. Certain locations are even supplying disposal gloves to wear while pumping gas now.

Soda Cans

Soda cans can host several germs all around the mouthpiece. Unlike a bottle that has a cap usually covering the areas you will be placing your mouth on, the can has been usually touched all over. From those who pack cans for shipment to the stockers, people’s dirty hands have touched all over where you place your mouth.

Escalators

Ever used an escalator and found that the handrails are dusty, dirty or even worse, sticky. How often do you really think these handrails get washed and then think about how many people use these escalators as they lay their hands all over the handrails.

Computers

From keyboards to mice, most of us use a computer every single day. I mean, I’m using one right now to type this article! How often do you touch your face or even eat some grub while browsing the web? Your computer is filthy, hopefully just physically filthy but to be on the safe side, clear out your history.
