10 Stages Of Pulling An All-Nighter

Entertainment, Funny, Lists, Other

Pulling an all-nighter may seem easy enough at first, but as the night goes on, your emotions will drastically change. Maybe they will change even more so than during the daytime hours. While not recommended to do all the time, sometimes it is important to pull an all-nighter. Whether you are working on a project, hanging out with friends, or doing it because you can, here are the 10 stages you will most likely experience during the night.

The Optimistic Stage

The night is young and so are you! You believe that you can make it through the night without any problems whatsoever. In fact, you might even think you won’t be tired by the end of it. This is only the beginning.

The Productive Stage

There will come a moment in the night where all of your best ideas will come to you. Perhaps you are working on a school research paper and have just come up with the best introduction. Maybe you’ve finally come up with a million dollar invention. Whatever happens, you will find yourself making progress on some sort of project, be it professional or personal.

The Bored Stage

The bored stage will smack you out of nowhere. Maybe you’ve lost interest in your research paper or the series you’ve been binging on Netflix has lost you. Either way, if you want to continue on with the all-nighter, you will need to take a break from your task and focus on something else for a bit.

The Hungry Stage

Your stomach may possibly become a bottomless pit at the end of the night. This will be the time that you will raid the kitchen, order late night takeout, or even bake yourself a batch of cookies.

The Thoughtful Stage

What is the meaning of life? What will the future hold for me? Did I really say that embarrassing thing back in 5th grade? This will be the moment in which you reflect on all thoughts of life, both good and bad.

The Tired Stage

You’ve run out of things to do. You’ve run out of thoughts to think. It’s way past your bedtime and you are starting to feel it. There is still some drive in you, yet it is starting to diminish and that bed sounds pretty amazing about now.

The Throw In The Towel Stage

The tiredness has begun to win and you find yourself at a moment of weakness. You begin to believe that giving up will be the best option. This is the moment where you begin to wonder why you even wanted to pull an all-nighter. Think about the reasons you made in the beginning of it all.

The Giggly Stage

This stage comes up without warning. One minute, you are inches away from a slumber, the next you are a laughing machine. Everything becomes the funniest thing in the world, even if it is not actually hilarious at all. You will even begin to question why you were so tired at all because now you are wide awake.

The Determined Stage

You give the clock a good look and realize how close you are to your goal. This is the moment when you become determined. After all, you’ve come this far, you might as well stick it out. By this point, if you are doing work, you are probably nearing the ending point.

The Relief Stage

You’ve completed your all-nighter. You do not recieve a medal or a trophy, but you do get the next best thing: a nice sleep in bed knowing that you accomplished something.
