10 Actors and Actresses Who Almost Died While Filming

Celebrity, Entertainment, Lists, Other, Shocking

It’s easy to criticize actors and actresses for making a whole lot of money for doing a job that seems glamorous, simple, and almost effortless. While it’s true that acting is a lot of fun, it also takes a lot of hard work and real effort, which many people don’t realize. In fact, some actors and actresses have actually put their lives on the line while performing the tasks of their job. This often happens as a result of either carelessness from the crew or actor themselves, faulty set equipment, or treacherous filming conditions. This list details ten different instances where actors or actresses almost died while filming.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt reportedly loved doing his own bike stunts for one of his films. However, he crashed into a taxi in New York during filming one scene and ended up with 31 stitches.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp was thrown off his horse during filming The Lone Ranger, and was nearly trampled to death.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry, during the filming of The Hive, fell during one of the scenes and suffered a major head injury. She was even hospitalized.

Jennifer Lawrence

During the filming of The Hunger Games, Jennifer Lawrence nearly died of suffocation when there was a malfunction with a smoke machine.

Diane Kruger

In the film Inglorious Bastards, Diane Kruger is choked in one of the scenes. The director didn’t yell “cut” in time, and she actually went unconscious and nearly died.

Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet actually suffered from pneumonia, influenza, and hypothermia, as a result of the harsh filming conditions in The Titanic.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio has always been a passionate actor. However, during the filming of Django Unchained, he severely injured himself by slamming his hand down onto the table and puncturing it with glass. His bleeding needed medical treatment but he insisted that they finish filming the scene first.

Michael J. Fox

During the filming of Back To The Future III, Michael J. Fox filmed a hanging scene. He actually accidentally hung himself, and he passed out before anyone noticed that he wasn’t acting.

Aaron Paul

Aaron Paul, from Breaking Bad, almost died when a gust of wind knocked a boulder onto the spot that he was supposed to be standing while filming. The only reason he didn’t die or get severely injured is because he had requested a different position for that scene.

Jason Statham

During the filming of The Expendables 3, Jason Statham was driving a truck and the brakes gave out, sending him straight into the ocean. He somehow managed to get out of the car and swim to safety, but that scenario could’ve ended way worse for him.
